.@iamKurc shot this video of @DHSgov blowing up wilderness for the wall minutes before Biden was sworn in & hours before he issued an EO halting construction.
I’m headed down to the border to make sure the construction crews got the message. Stay tuned.
Just need to clarify that Ottawa Public Health endorsed the opening of schools for Monday and yet they have firsthand knowledge that NOTHING changed to make schools safer. Data shows that the opening of schools increased cases, so? (TBH I want schools open but safely).
Character education teaches student to comply
They're praised for listening & following the rules
We don't praise students (or staff!) for disrupting or challenging systems
- This is how we ensure that systems never change -
BREAKING: Schools will not reopen on Monday in the #Ottawa or the eastern Ontario public health units, the Ontario government has announced.
The government has not provided a new reopening date.
Sincere question while we all wait for Lecce's press release:
Has anyone heard anything about what "additional measures" the MoE has put in place for reopening, beyond masks for 1-3 and some kind of announced-but-not-explained change to the screening tool?
When asked what Dr. Etches wanted to see in order to reopen schools: "What we wanted to see was (...) that rapid rise of COVID in our community. We needed to see that turn around."
The way she's speaking sounds like we're going back to F2F on Monday, but no concrete info. #onted
BREAKING: Ontario's Special Investigations Unit has determined there are no grounds to charge a Peel police officer in the fatal shooting of 28-year-old Jamal Francique.
Jamal's family and community waited a year for the SIU to do nothing. the @PeelPolice shot Jamal in the back of the head and there won't be a criminal trial. the system isn't broken, it's designed to protect these killer cops. abolish the police before they kill again
There are reports of parents interrupting online classrooms and complaining about teachers on Facebook. This morning, I discussed the safety implications for students and the importance of escalating internally for legitimate complaints @am640 (at 20:00)
BREAKING | @SIUOntario says they are investigating the death of a man in an Ottawa police station cell last night. It says he was arrested at about 4:45 p.m., taken to the station and found unresponsive at about 9:30 p.m. He was pronounced dead just after 10 p.m. #OttNews
So we may not even find out today? (AKA for sure won't)
I know I shouldn't be surprised by yet another changing deadline, but I am.
It's not like education workers and people caring for kids need any kind of ADVANCE NOTICE about these things.
